The color where it is cracked is gone and just colored lines are in it's place.
If it is a plasma then you are S.O.L. Once a plasma screened is cracked on the inside then there is nothing that you are going to be able to do about it. If it is too much then get a new one.

My husband and I have decided to finally ditch our big tube and go for a new HD LCD model! But we are clueless as to which brand and the options to look for. What is the best bet on the market right now and what numbers/items should we be looking at? Thanks!
Don't give up on tubes…With flat panel TVs emerging nowadays such as plasmas and LCDs, most consumers are highly misinformed and believe that the quality of a flat panel is better than that of a tube (CRT) TV. This is not true at all. The image quality of a plasma or LCD TVsfar inferior to a CRT, such as the Sony KD-34XBR970. Even worse, more and more people are buying these flat panel TVs as a 'status symbol' and do not understand true picture quality. Why do you think studios use CRT monitors during production and ediing instead of a plasma TV? Most studios want the best, most accurate picture possible, so they use CRT monitors. The quality of the Sony KD-34XBR970is much like a studio monitor, and surpasses all other displays regardless of cost. The dot pitch iso fine and the picture has so much realism to the point where all other displays look dull and muddy in comparison. Convergence and geometry is perfect out of the box, and the set looked fantastic. Its picture had depth and dimension, unlike the flat lok ofmost plasma and LCD TVs. HD channels look amazing they are very real and are not overly enhanced. The Sony's on-board processing and DRC is perfect and does not make sources look pixelated at all. The picture is fine, clear, and has exceptionaletail. One caveat to remember: The set is shipped in 'Vivid' mode, which is meant to grab your attention in the stores with a bright picture but lacking in clarity. It is way too bright and much too sharp. You can see outlines and picture artifacts inthis mode. If you keep the TV in Vivid mode, you are guaranteed to burn the tubes in no time and shorten the life of the TV. Also, the vivid mode is very inaccurate in color reproduction. I have my set calibrated in the 'Movie' mode, with a picture (wite level) setting of 20/63 and a brightness (black level) setting of 30/63. Remember, it is very important to lower the 'picture' setting because it controls the amount of white light on the screen. If you do this, the tube will last a very long timend you willsee an exceptional image. On the other hand, the 'brightness' setting controls the amount of dark areas you see in the picture. Turning this setting up will allow you to see more dark areas in a movie, but will not burn the tubes or impairmage quality. An accurate image is better than a bright one. Finally, the color decoder needs adjustment as it emphasizes red severely and makes people look reddish or tanned. If you change the 'color axis' setting from 'Default' to 'Monitor,' the colrs will be much more accurate and vibrant. If you adjust this set properly and take good care of it, it will produce the best picture of any TV and will last a very long time. (My old XBR TV is 16 years old and still going.) I have a neighbor who spen $10,000 on a plasma TV and the picture quality is far worse than this set. What kind of TV would you buy? Is status symbol more important than image quality? Remember, that after reading this review, you are a much more educated consumer and that meas more power to you!

LCD flat screen tvs. Also what is the difference between HD and Blue Ray?
there are basically 2 types of flat screen tv's that are available with hd.
lcd, and plasma tvs. both are capable of up to 1080p (or the highest quality of hd). there are some pro's and cons of each.
plasma
pros: produces a brighter, better picture (better colors), and is better able to handle fast moving pictures (like a car racing across the screen etc.)
cons: more expensive, prone to screen burn ins. if you intend to play video games, be careful. images that remain in the same place can actually burn into the screen. a plasma tv might not be the best option if you are going to use it for gaming but it can be done if you are careful about it. the other con is the life of the tv. plasma tv's use cells filled with gases that reacts with electrical impulses. the gas in each cell has a limited life span. when it goes, the tv will dim and over time, it will no longer work. average life span is about 5-7 years average (roughly 35,000 hrs)
lcd
pros: very affordable, they last a long time (about twice as long as the average crt tv), excellent for gaming as they are not prone to screen burn ins.
cons: picture qualiity (color) is not as good as plasma (particularly the black color levels seem greyed or washed out a little bit), isn't as good at handling faced paced action on the screen, but refresh rates have improved substantially over the past few years.
hd dvd and blue ray: both are high definition.
before discussing differences between these 2 formats it's important to understand high definition.
standard definition is 480i. this means that the tv draws 480 lines of resolution on the tv. high definition is 720 lines and 1080 lines of resolution. so when you see 720i or 1080p that number tells you how many lines the tv will draw on your screen. the higher the number, the better the quality.
the i and p after the number refers to the way the image is produced on the tv. i=interlaced. in short it means 2 images are drawn over top of one another to produce the full picture. this can cause some distortion. if you are watching regular tv you will notice the little lines if you go up to your tv and look at it. p=progressive it means the tv draws an entire picture from top to bottom eliminating the distortion you get from interlaced.
hd dvd: was the creation of toshiba. it produces 720 line hd which can be used on all high definition tv's on the market. some players now allow for you to up convert to 1080, but it is still not true 1080.
blue ray: is the work of sony. it will produce full hd (or 1080p) however, not all tv's will support full hd, which is fine, it will still down convert it to the highest possible resolution you tv can produce, you just won't be taking full advantage of full hd. you will have to know what level of hd your tv will support to consider which of these 2 will work better for you.
both formats are still jockeying for dominance, however, in a recent article i read, a lot of the main film studios have just signed on to blue ray. at the same time the adult industry seems to have endorsed hd dvd. according to history, when vhs and beta max were battling back in the 80's, vhs won out because the porn industry elected to go with vhs, and everyone else followed suit. it's a tough decision to make right now on which will win out. that's why i'm still waiting.
anyway, that is my answer, hope that helps you on your decision.

I’m ready to upgrade to HD technology finally. I just don’t want to go out and spend thousands of dollars on it. try the brands, Olevia and Vizio they aren’t well known but, they are well reviewed.
