Watch Internet Satellite TV or Plain TV

Davion W asked:

TV viewers are interested to know if they should watch internet satellite TV just like others who are doing so. Many of us have grown up with the traditional TV set and the cube that makes noises and flashes images has very much been ingrained in our lives and entertainment world. Screens are getting larger and resolution has gotten even sharper each day. We are even able to spot the little speck on the face of our favourite movie star. While this may be the case and there is still a place for our conventional TV sets, the programs we watch are shifting towards online platforms. So an expected rise in the numbers who watch internet satellite TV is in the horizon.

On average, more than 30 hours are spent in a week in the life of an average American in front of the TV screen. This means that you spend about close to 1 year out of every 5 years you live watching TV. According to a recent survey, more than 19 million folks in US subscribe to satellite TV services. This figure has since been rising without any slowdown in sight. The question is whether it will threaten the existence of analog TV broadcasting to the point where it vanishes from our homes.

People watch internet satellite TV because they get to enjoy digital quality TV. This is way more superior to the quality of analog TV. Let us get specific about the advantages in watching internet satellite TV over watching analog TV.

1. Hundreds of Satellite TV Channels

Depending on the software you use, you could potentially be able to access hundreds to thousands of TV channels when you watch internet satellite TV.

2. Digital Picture and Audio Quality

If you are receiving digital satellite TV broadcasts, the picture and audio quality must be better than the analog signals.

3. Digital Video Recording (DVR)

Digital video recording capabilities are available with some satellite TV systems. This is useful as you can then record shows that you wish to keep for future viewing.

4. High-Definition (HD) Receivers

Using High-Definition (HD) receivers mean that you can watch internet satellite TV movies and other videos in HD TV format.

5. Software and Internet Connection Instead of Satellite Dish

Watching internet satellite TV makes use of a PC satellite TV software and internet connection rather than satellite dish. This is much easier to set up. Technology has made it so convenient to watch internet satellite TV. But it comes with a price tag though not a high one for sure. PC satellite TV software used for TV viewing costs less than the price of a meal for two at a local restaurant.

Analog TV viewers are missing out on what this satellite TV software can offer. At the very least, the number of programs provided, the low price tag and the convenience of installation are enough reasons for anyone to consider this option to watch internet satellite TV. Discover for yourself more about PC satellite TV software and how it can help you watch internet satellite TV while you are surfing the net.

How to Buy a Lcd Tv With Hd Tv

Bivan asked:

If this doesn’t get you excited, then nothing will. LCD TVs have become all the rage and there is nothing better than a big screen TV. And when you couple LCD TV with HD TV, look out. An amazing physical display combined with a fantastic output. This is what is happening in LCD TV technology today.

If you are like most people looking to replace your TV, you’ve probably been paying close attention to High Definition Television sets (HD-TV). Unlike the previous generation of TV, which used analog signals to transmit information, HD-TVs use digital signals to transmit a signal and receive and display information directly on the television set. The HD-TVs also use a High-Resolution digital television set and Dolby Digital surround sound. The combination of the two creates incredible pictures and sounds - the best available on the market to date. HD-TV television offers viewers a level of detail they haven’t seen before: including a resolution about five times higher than that of analog TV.

The main thing to remember when you are shopping for HD-TV set is that just because a television is “digital” it does not mean it is necessarily “HD-TV compatible”. There are two levels below the HD level (standard definition TV and enhanced definition TV), both of which are vastly better than analog televisions but still of considerably lower quality than an LCD TV- HD-TV set. Since the FCC has mandated that all television sets eventually switch from analog to digital, you should know the differences between the different types of digital TVs.

Here are some tips. When looking to purchase an HD-TV, remember to compare the difference in picture resolution, audio features, and pixels. HD-TV requires a minimum of 720 horizontal scanning lines (enhanced definition TV, while considerably higher than standard definition TV, only features a minimum of 480 scanning lines) and the resolution on an HD-TV is 1920×1080 compared to enhanced definition TV, which only has a resolution of 1280×780.

When you experience a HD-TV image and then compare it to other TVs’ technology on the market, the difference will be clear. With “HD” everything looks and sounds far more realistic than on any other type of system. We think that once you see a big screen LCD TV with HD-TV, the choice will be clear.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when looking for a HD LCD TV. In fact, many of the most important tips haven’t been mentioned here. Learn about LCD TVs before making a purchase.

Satellite TV Programming Options (that You Won’t Find With Cable)

Bradley Jenkins asked:

Once upon a time, in an age long past, cable companies offered the best TV programming available.  However, that has changed.  Cable companies, once the wave of the future, are now yesterday’s news and have been relegated to the mists of time by many consumers.  Why have so many consumers across the nation forsaken the cable companies?  What is behind this new trend in TV programming?  Satellite TV programming is responsible for this dramatic shift in consumer watching habits.  Why has satellite TV had such a dramatic impact on consumers?  The largest reason is, perhaps, the programming options available.

Exclusive Sports Programming – Whether you love baseball, football, soccer, hockey or even cricket, it is vital that you find the sports programming that you want.  With cable, you were lucky to find anything more than major games, and those were only relegated to football and baseball.  However, satellite providers give you that sports fix that you crave, in almost any dosage size that you want!  Do you love football?  There are channel packages that will let you watch almost every game during the regular season.  Do you love baseball?  Perhaps NASCAR or Indy Racing is your thing?  You will find those with satellite providers, as well.  In short, satellite TV is where the sports you love have found a home.  Cable companies cannot even touch the sports programming options available.

High Definition – Do you have an HD TV at home?  Is it languishing, with no HD content from your cable company?  Then make the switch to satellite TV and find out what TV programming should be!  You will find more than 100 HD channels for your enjoyment, from HD music channels to HD movie channels, HD pay-per-view channels, sports channels, educational channels and even HD local channels for many areas.  In short, if you love high definition TV and want the very best selection of channels, then satellite TV is the only choice for your needs. Cable companies offer 60 or so HD channels, at best.  This is no way to enjoy the hottest programming technology on earth.  Satellite providers can kick your enjoyment up more than a few notches with their ever-growing selection of HD programming (as a hint, the number of HD channels is slated to grow exponentially, as well).

Price – Of course, price is a huge concern in these troubled economic times.  How much can you expect to pay for your satellite TV programming?  Thankfully, satellite TV is more affordable than cable, even with a wider range of channels and better technology.  That means you get the programming you want, the technological advancement that you need for HD enjoyment and can expect to pay less for it! It’s no wonder that cable companies are distinctly nervous – they see their extinction spelled out in the dramatic shift of consumer viewing habits, as satellite TV is adopted by more and more consumers.  Satellite is the way of the future and cable seems to have no chance of redemption.

Satellite TV With Directv

David Johnson asked:

If you are still dealing with the day to day issues that cable providers make you put up with, I think it would be a great time for you to consider the other options. For years satellite television has only really been available to the wealthy television viewers. Also, way back when, people had to purchase all of their own satellite hardware, including the satellite dish itself, individually. Back then all pieces of required hard ware seemed to cost a small fortune each. Because of the ridiculous high costs of the, then, new technology, most people were left with the only two other alternatives : watching cable TV, or watching rabbit ear TV. It is time you checked out DirecTV, if you have not already. DirecTV is the solution to many of the old problems posed by cable TV.

Needless to say, most television viewers were missing out. It is surprising to some how many viewers are still missing out on satellite TV now that satellite TV has become so much more affordable. The reason why so many people have not switched to satellite TV yet is simple, they do not realize how inexpensive it is now. It is true that you can still spend an arm and a leg on a satellite TV set up if you go through certain satellite providers, the trick is to get satellite TV through the best and most affordable satellite TV provider : DirecTV. It is incredible how fast technology becomes inexpensive after being so expensive for so long. Many satellite providers would continue to mark up the prices knowing that most people do not know how much less it can be. DirecTV always offers the best value at the most affordable prices. The saying “You get what you pay for” does not really apply here because with DirecTV the value is so great that you actually get much much more than you pay for! No joke!

DirecTV now offers new technology in television such as High Definition TV (or HD TV), TiVo (you know the system that allows you to pause TV), and the ever popular Digital Video Recorder. DirecTV also offers all of the great and popular movie channels that you have heard so much about like ShoTime, Cinemax, HBO, and Starz. And for you sports nuts out there, once you get a load of the SportsPack you will wonder how you ever lived without it!

The most amazing part of it all is that with DirecTV’s less expensive high value programming packages you can get all of this for an incredibly low monthly price. Not to mention (but to mention) the fact that all of the hardware comes free! The hardware comes free and you also get it installed free, for up to four rooms in your home! Sometimes DirecTV’s monthly rate (including all of these goodies) is actually comparable to what you were paying before with cable! Is that unbelievable? Well believe it! Take a look at DirecTV’s website, it says it all!

High Definition Satellite TV - What you Should Know

ryan@thesatellitetvguide.com asked:

High Definition Satellite TV

Ever since high definition (HD) TV sets came on the market in the late 90’s, high definition TV has been touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread - “Life like picture!” Vibrant colors!” “Three dimensional sound!”

But what is high definition satellite TV? Is it really all that great? And where can you get HD satellite TV service at the best price?

Let’s find out …

What is High Definition Satellite TV?

High definition satellite TV is a broadcast format that provides a higher resolution picture than over-the-air (analog) broadcasts and regular digital broadcasts, resulting in a clearer, more colorful picture.

Picture quality is measured in scan lines. The more scan lines a picture has, the clearer the picture. Analog TV has 525 scan lines per image, while HDTV has up to 1,080 lines per image - almost twice as many lines of resolution - giving you twice the clarity of analog TV.

What are the benefits of high definition satellite TV?

The benefits of high definition TV are:

* HDTV broadcasts are all digital so you get a clear picture without the ghosting or snow that you get with analog TV broadcasts.

* You get super-sharp images with more realistic colors than analog or regular digital satellite TV.

* HD programming is in 16:9 widescreen format, similar to that of a movie screen, giving you the feeling that you’re part of the picture

* High definition programming is broadcast in Dolby Digital surround sound for a three-dimensional listening experience.

Where can I get high definition satellite TV?

The two major satellite TV providers - DISH Network and DIRECTV - offer high definiton programming packages.

DISH Network bundles its HDTV packages with regular digital programming packages. They offer four HDTV packages with prices starting at $29.99 per month for 30 HD channels and 75 regular digital channels.

DIRECTV offers its HD programming package as an add on. Their price is $9.99 for 8 HD channels.

(Click on the links below for more HD satellite TV programming information.)

What equipment do I need?

When you subscribe to their service, DISH Network and DIRECTV will give you a free satellite TV system consisting of a satellite dish and up to four receivers. Installation and instruction from your installer on how to use it is also free.

In order to get high definition reception you’ll need a high definition receiver.

DISH Network will give you a free HD receiver, and DIRECTV will give you a free HD receiver after a $99 mail-in rebate.

If you want to digitally record your favorite programs you can purchase a combination HD DVR (digital video recorder) receiver from either provider which will store up to 200 hours of programming.

In addition to a satellite dish and a high definition receiver, you’ll also need an HD TV set.

So what’s the bottom line?

The bottom line is you get a much better picture and better quality sound than you get with standard analog broadcasts, or even regular digital satellite TV broadcasts. So if you want the highest quality picture and sound, and are willing to spend a few extra dollars to get it, HDTV is for you.

Key Considerations to Make When Looking at HD TV Sets

Donald Donaldson asked:

Consumer advice of what factors need to be considered when looking to buy an HD TV.

It is pretty certain that the days of the cathode ray TV are over, while they are still being manufactured in the majority of cases people will choose to buy a flat screen LCD or plasma variant. The wholesale move towards these flat panel televisions has been a result of the onset of digital TV and high definition or HD signals. Seemingly no home is now complete without a HD TV screen on the wall and a full surround system, at the moment this may purely be an aesthetic choice but as the old analogue signals are switched off, the necessity for a HD TV will be realised.

HD signals are finally being transmitted by nearly all of the major television companies, the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 all transmit in high def, whilst paid television such as Sky also have additional high definition channels. The HD television however is not purely used for watching live television broadcasts, with BluRay DVD it is now possible to watch movies in better definition that at the cinema. Considering the size of the televisions available today, a compromise on size does not even have to be made. But what should be your major considerations when buying a high definition television set?

Naturally the first consideration to make when looking at HD TVs is price, with models that can cost thousands of pounds it is unsurprising that so many people become confused on entering the shop and end up leaving with a gargantuan televisions with many features that will be used rarely, if ever. The best advice is to set yourself a budget before heading out to the shops, it is even more important however to stick to this budget religiously and not become swayed by either the sales assistants or an impressive television that is just outside of the price range. It is worth remembering however that HD TV prices are constantly dropping meaning that with a little patience it is possible to wait until sales time and grab a bargain.

The next consideration is how large you want the television to be, e.g. the size of the screen. Most people believe that the larger the screen the better although in most cases this is not completely true; for instance if you live in a box room, having a massive telly will most likely be impracticable. Most experts agree that if the distance taken from the viewing position to the screen divided by two and a half will give an indication of the screen size required. In addition it is important to plan how the television is to fit into the room, a stupidly large television will dominate a room forcing people to consider it as the main focal point. Preferably a TV should not be the main focal point, even if it is a piece of wonder HD technology.

The final consideration to be discussed here is whether the HD TV you are considering will be compatible with existing components; these components could be a stereo system or a surround sound system. Additionally the number of fittings and connections that television has should be studied in order to assess whether all of those DVD players and satellite boxes will be able to be plugged in.

Hopefully these three considerations will give those selecting a HD TV a good starting place from which to scour the markets. Researching what is on the market is vital not only to obtain a good deal but to get a set that performs all of the necessary tasks. With a careful and conscientious approach it should be possible to gain years of viewing pleasure.

Cable TV or Traditional Satellite TV - Choose Neither

Michael Littles asked:

If you are in the market for Cable TV Service I would encourage you to NOT go the traditional route. I would encourage you to not even waste your time looking at them to be honest.

Traditional comparison shopping goes something like this; You call the local Cable Provider and checkout their prices and channel options. That’s the first step.

Sometimes this next step really doesn’t matter because often the first Cable Provider is the only show in town. But if you do live in a bigger town or city and there is at least one competitor you would then call them up next, check the programs they offer and compare it to the company you previously contacted.

You sooner discover the difference, if any, is a couple bucks per month. Same channel selection, same basic service and package options, with just a different company name.

So you move on to consider traditional satellite TV service. Normally the price is a little better but the local viewing options may be a bit of a challenge. From this pool of choices you would feverishly make your decision. Here’s a bit of sound advice. . . Forget that entire process - And forget it now!

There is a new technology for TV entertainment that you may not have heard about. It’s called Satellite TV to your PC and it is by far so much better than Cable TV or Traditional Satellite TV, but to be fair all around lets compare the three:

Cable and Satellite TV: $50 - $100 for a monthly subscription.

TV 2 PC: One time only download cost. You literally save thousands of dollars over the years because you don’t have to pay monthly subscriptions fees.

Cable and Satellite TV: You get the top 50 or the top 100 at a decent monthly price. If you want more channels you have to pay a lot more money, but you usually can’t get more than 500 channels no matter how much you are willing to pay.

TV 2 PC: You get over 4,000 channels that include local TV and TV channels from all around the world yet you still only pay the low one-time download cost.

Cable and Satellite TV: You are limited to local live sporting events for the most part, and if they are not blacked out in your area. If you want something like a total football access subscription you will pay hundreds of dollars for that one season, for that one sport.

TV 2 PC: You get hundreds of live sporting events including Football, Baseball, Boxing, Hockey, Tennis and more. You can watch them even if they are taking place in a different country.

No extra costs involved and you get all the sporting events, not just one sport and you get access to them all 365 days per year, not just for one season.

Cable and Satellite TV: You can purchase one HD TV for one room and it can cost you $3,000 dollars or more… And you know its true. Want to watch that same quality of TV in additional rooms then you have to pay monthly for additional “boxes” and buy more high dollar TVs.

TV 2 PC: With just a one time purchase of wireless routers you can install basic computer with HD Monitors to serve as TVs in about 10 rooms for the same price you’d have to pay for just one HD TV.

However, if you already own a great Plasma or HD TV just connect it to your computer and watch your 4,000 channels in HD from your couch…It’s easy.

Cable and Satellite TV: Order service, wait several days later for an installer to come by your home and get you set-up. Hopefully you don’t have to pay for that, but there are no guarantees.

TV 2 PC: Click a download button and in minutes your watching TV on your PC.

Now, you tell me. Honestly, is there really a comparison here? Of course not! If you want the best deal, with the widest amount of viewing options, neither Cable TV nor Satellite TV can compare with the new Satellite TV to PC technology.

TV to PC is basically a software application that gives you access to the providers Server which is being feed by the hundreds of Satellites stations from around the world.

That software application allows those Satellite feeds to be sent to your computer. It’s really that simple. There is no reason to waste money on a subscription based Cable TV or Satellite TV service that can only offer you a very limited view choice. If you are shopping for television entertainment TV 2 PC is what you want to checkout first.

Hd TV Channels in Australia

Hugh McInnes asked:

If you are thinking about experiencing the latest in HD TV technology, there are a few important areas to take into consideration. Firstly, what do you intend to watch? There has been a lot of buzz around High Definition TV lately and it is important to consider the HD TV Channels being offered in Australia. Secondly, not all HD technology is the same, so it is important to know what equipment is best.

While Australia is an early adopter of high definition television, recently digital terrestrial television looks at being more popular. This isn’t to say that High Definition TV isn’t worthwhile as there are many HD TV Channels available to the consumer. For example, the Australian government allocated the five national terrestrial television stations (ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine and Ten) one channel each which they are required to broadcast a simulcast of the analogue offerings in High Definition TV format with at least 20 hours per week of HD TV content. This push from the Australian government provides for free to air HD TV Channels available to the consumer.

While the free to air offerings are fantastic for experiencing regular programming in high definition for the Australian people, most consumers would be looking for other content in the high definition High Definition TV format. HD TV Channels such as sports or documentary type programming are popular choices for consumers and as such have been a strong offering from pay TV providers offering High Definition TV.

While HD TV Channel content is an important consideration, this should be balanced with knowledge of the formats and technology that are used in the HD TV spectrum. With High Definition TV there are two main formats; 1080i and 720p. In the case of 1080i, the HD TV picture may have 1080 interlaced or progressive scan lines. 1080i offers 1920×1080 pixel resolution and displays more information in the way of scan lines. This means sharper pictures particularly with slow moving images. 720p offers 1280×720 pixel resolution and while offering less resolution to 1080i, 720p offers full frame, progressive scanning enabling fast-moving action without blurring the image.

Hd TV Equipment

Ted Brumby asked:

To get the best from your HD viewing experience, it’s recommended to incorporate the latest HD TV equipment including HD capable TV’s, HD set top boxes, the latest in surround sound and of course the appropriate HD TV cabling to connect it all together.

HD televisions come in a range of flavours and it is important to select one that is both future proof and suits your budget. When selecting your HD television, ensure it is capable of displaying standard definition, 720p and 1080i high definition formats. It is also worth while asking if the HD television in question is HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) compatible. If the technology is too much for you, just look for the ‘HD Tick’ - This is the easiest way to tell if your television is true HD. The ‘HD Tick’ logo is an initiative of the Australian Digital Suppliers Industry Forum and may only be applied to televisions with specific criteria.

Do you own a gaming console? If so, you should enquire as to how many HDMI inputs it has. The HDMI inputs allows for high definition game play. Look for a high definition television that has more than one HDMI input to save you needing to change cords just to play your games.

An important part of your HD TV Equipment checklist is to incorporate the latest in surround sound technology. Lots of HD TV programs are also recorded with cinema-style surround sound, so it is certainly wise to invest in surround sound. There are several ways to connect your surround sound system to the rest of your HD TV equipment; HDMI, Optical, Digital Coax and RCA Analog. By far the easiest way to connect your surround sound system is by HDMI. HDMI also provides the best quality signal to ensure you get the best from your HD TV broadcasts.

Connecting all your HD TV equipment together is important in getting the best from your investment. The following connectors can all be used, some with better results than the rest:

- HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable

An HDMI cable is the simplest and best way to connect to your HD TV. Most HD TVs have an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connector which can be used to connect devices like your HD set-top box. HDMI offers crisp, clear all-digital video and analogue audio in a single cable

- DVI (Digital Video Interface) cable

Some HD TVs have a DVI (Digital Video Interface) connector instead of an HDMI connector. A DVI cable carries only picture information and not sound - so you’ll need a separate audio connection. In some cases you can use an adapter to connect this to the HDMI connector on your HD device.

- Component Video cable

Component video is basically a transmission of three separate colour signals to represent all possible colours - no sound is carried on these cables. If you’re using component video, make sure you have the cables properly matched to the colour coded jacks.

- S-Video cable

S-Video is a mid-level signal format that is not capable of carrying HD signals to HD Television.

- Composite Video cable

Composite video cable will provide the lowest resolution quality from your output device (DVD, VCR, cable box) to your TV and will not support a HD signal to your HD TV.
